Gill Lewis, Head of Offenders Management at Bedford Prison - on 14th September 2007 plus a visit from our daughter Club, the Rotary Club of Luton

Gill, seen on the left with Rtn Derek Payne, gave us a most interesting talk on how every effort is made to usefully educate the prisoners who have an average stay of only 29 days. She also answered a number quite tricky questions with considerable skill. Derek gave the vote of thanks and presented Gill with the usual framed Bedford print

President Anthony was unwell and Senior Vice President, Rtn Chris Horler, stood in for the invalid and did well

We also had a visit from 8 Luton Rotarians. It is their Club's 80th Anniversary and during the year they are regurgitating one President per month. It was the turn of Rtn Rev. Nick Bell, who told us that when he lived up North, his first job was as curate of a church where our Rtn Ken Brough was Churchwarden.  Nick spoke highly of the help Ken and Doris had given him. Below you can see on the left, left to right, Nick, Ken and Rtn Jimmy Burt, who also comes from up North
